This is a brochure cover I designed while working at Concept Link/RISD Prints many years ago.  Here I coupled my on going obsession with symmetrical/repeated patterns and through in a basic CMYK color scheme to make the shapes bounce and to reference to the Printing process.

“Caves” is one in a many of “Lunarfix” posters I created during idle downtime. The photo I used panoramic shot I took in Badlands, SD during a road trip.

Kathy over at “Easy Skinny Life” requested I create a cartoon likeness over here for here newly formed health blog.  Creating a cartoon from a photograph was new for me but I was happy to oblige.

Altering photos or using photos as source material to create “art” is what got me in into Photoshop initially.  The image below is sourced from photos I took while inBadlands, SD in the late 90′s and was the very first image I manipulated (destroyed) with Photoshop.

This below is a mirrored (like above) manipulation of photos I took of Mt. St. Helens during the same roundtrip although tweaked in Photoshop in the last few years.  I had a few copies printed at about 6′ wide.  There isa lot of nuanced detail (click for large preview).  Note the ‘heads’ along the center of the piece.

This is a charcoal drawing I did of my name.  The H-U-G and O are in there if you hunt around a bit.

This piece is made using charcoal, india ink, graphite and marker.  The different media provide an interesting contrast of textures that give the piece dimensional feel.

This was my second portfolio site.  It was a big improvement over the first in its’ simplicity although it required a large amount of coding underneath.  I eventually came to the confusion that the site was too graphical and detracted from the work I was presenting.

This is a site mockup that never made it to a website.  I was happy with the textures and the shadowing used and so sits here until the t-shirt business bug bites again.
